Choosing someone to manage retirement savings, a business sale or an inheritance is an emotional decision dressed up as a financial one. Prospects compare credentials, but the moment that tips them is usually softer: a sense that this person explains things plainly and will not talk down to them. Written bios and a list of designations rarely deliver that feeling. A few minutes of you on screen often does.
Referrals now get checked on video
Even when a new household arrives through a referral from a client or an estate attorney, they look you up first. They open your website, scroll your LinkedIn profile and search YouTube for your name. If they find a calm clip where you walk through how you approach sequence of returns or Roth conversions, the introduction arrives warm. If they find nothing, the referral has to carry all the weight on its own.
The regulatory layer is part of the craft
Advisors work under advertising rules that most video producers have never read. Depending on how your firm is registered, the SEC marketing rule or FINRA communications standards shape what you can say about performance and about praise from clients, and your firm has to keep records of what it publishes. Good financial advisor video marketing treats those constraints as a design brief, not an afterthought.
